Senior Software Engineer

January

NYC / SF, United StatesHybrideFull-timeSenior (5+ years)Open

Overview

January is rebuilding one of the most broken parts of consumer finance: what happens after someone falls behind on debt. Its autonomous, compliant collections platform works directly for creditors, using data and AI to personalize outreach and offer consumers clearer, more compassionate ways to resolve what they owe. January has serviced $20B+ in debt and engaged 20M+ consumers, outperforming traditional agencies by 30%+ for 80%+ of clients while delivering consumer satisfaction roughly 50% higher than the largest banks. The company is now growing beyond late-stage debt collection into a multi-product platform, backed by Series B funding, with 100+ people working out of Nolita, NYC. January is hiring Senior Software Engineers across up to 12 openings, including standard Senior SWE and P4 Senior SWE tracks. Candidates apply once, then work with the team during the process to find the best fit across Borrower Acquisition, Borrower Activation, Compliance & Money Operations, Consumer Conversation (CONVO), and Client Experience (CX). Senior Engineers are backend-leaning, able to move across the full stack, and expected to own product outcomes, shape technical direction, and mentor others. This is a hybrid role based in NYC or SF with 3+ days per week in office.
